Diversity and Respect Week at James Kennedy Elementary

Feb. 25-March 1

Together we are learning about, and practicing:

Banners reflecting various Respect and Diversity themes will be displayed in the gym throughout the week!

Monday – Respect – We will start to create a school-wide communal art about respect.

The title is “seyemstex”.  At James Kennedy we have respect for self, others, and for the environment. Every student and staff will add their fingerprint to create the word Respect.

Tuesday – Kindness – “A can or a coin for kindness!”  Staff and students will bring a can to show kindness to our Langley community. Donations will go to Sources Food Bank.

Wednesday – Diversity Day – Many students are creating and sharing projects that are a reflection of their identity.  Who are they? What do they love?  Why is it important to them?

Thursday – Courage – Assembly at 1:00 – parents welcome.  Students will practise courage by taking on a leadership role in an assembly that encompasses the work we are doing as a Diverse and Respectful school.

Friday – Love – Friendly Friday – Today classes will go for a walk on the path with a class they don’t normally interact with, and start new friendships.
